Houses on rural sites do not have the restrictions of site boundaries and site area and give a lot more freedom for design.  Generally the sites have an outlook but are also more exposed, so careful consideration is needed in designing outdoor areas for protection whilst still enjoying outlook, 2 storeys is still a popular option given the available land and the gallery has examples of both single and 2 storey.
